A motorcyclist got more than a speeding ticket when he whizzed past a police highway patrol car near Feilding yesterday.
The officers spotted the bike doing about 120km/h on Lethbridge Rd, and pursued it for about 1500 metres until the rider abandoned the machine in Maewa Rd and fled.
The 41-year-old local man was picked up by police a short distance from the bike and arrested after a "considerable amount" of drugs, believed to be methamphetamine, and other drug-related items were recovered.
The man will appear in Palmerston North District Court today charged with possession for supply of Class A drug, possession of a Class B drug, possession of a Class C drug, possession of utensils, driving while suspended, and failing to stop.
