KEY POINTS:
Speed and alcohol were thought to be factors in a crash that killed two people in Hamilton early yesterday morning, police said.
The 24-year-old man and a woman, whose age is not yet known, were passengers in a car travelling through residential Frankton about 4am.
They had not been identified last night.
The 24-year-old male driver survived and was taken to Waikato Hospital, where he was in a moderate condition.
Sergeant Jeff Penno, of Hamilton, said the trio were in a Ford car which went off the road, and crashed side-on into a concrete retaining wall.
