The holiday period seems to have tempted Wairarapa's animal lovers to pop in to the SPCA.
SPCA Wairarapa manager Lloyd Warren said the past few weeks of adoptions have been "amazing", and it is continuing to be strong. During the last weekend, the centre adopted out six kittens and one adult cat, Mr Warren said.
About three weeks ago Mr Warren received five black puppies at the shelter, the last of which was also rehomed on the weekend.
He said since December 1, Wairarapa's SPCA has adopted out 11 canines and was pleased with the turnover.
"Because we have rehomed a lot of animals, it's easier to keep the place clean and allows us more time," Mr Warren said.
