Police are asking holidaymakers to remain vigilant on the water after a spate of rescues in the top half of the North Island yesterday.
Inspector Scott Webb of the Police Northern Communications centre said emergency services responded to six water rescue callouts in two hours.
Nobody was injured in the incidents, which were at spots near Manukau, Coromandel, Opotiki, Rotorua and the Far North.
The incidents included engine problems, vessels aground, capsized vessels and people in trouble in the water.
"Police are reminding people, that although it is the holiday period, please be mindful of the weather conditions," Mr Webb said.
