Spain's King and Queen are to visit New Zealand later this month.
Prime Minister John Key said King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain would be accompanied on their June 20 to 24 visit by Spain's Foreign Minister, Miguel Angel Moratinos, the Secretary of State for Trade Silvia Iranzo Gutierrez, and a high-level delegation.
Mr Key said the visit was a chance to enhance Spain's understanding and visibility of New Zealand.
"New Zealand's relationship with Spain is on the cusp of an exciting phase of further development, with the prospect of increased trade, investment and tourism.
"Our two countries are also seeking to expand education, science and technology, and cultural links."
The delegation will visit Auckland and Wellington and will officially open the Spanish Embassy in Wellington on June 23.
