KEY POINTS:
Rheem is recalling some of its spa and pool heater models which are in danger of overheating water to scalding point.
Water could reach 45 degrees if water gets into the thermostat control.
The company is advising people who have installed the models in small pools, spas and fully enclosed indoor pools to disconnect the heater.
People with larger pools are advised to turn the heater off.
Rheem NZ is recalling its Raypak pool and spa heater units with prefix AL0507 - July 2005 to AL0708 August 2007, AN0507 to AN0708, and 2007 08 and 2008 02.
Customers can call 0800 657 336 to have their units modified free of charge.
