State Highway 98, or Lorne Dacre Rd, northeast of Invercargill has reopened this morning after a timber-laden truck hit a power pole and rolled in wet conditions, bringing powerlines down across the road.
The truck driver was initially trapped but passers-by pulled him free and he appeared to have suffered only minor injuries in the accident, which happened about 4.15am, near Kennington Roslyn Bush Road, police said.
The truck suffered moderate to extensive damage.
Police were still investigating the cause of the crash and said it was too early to say if charges would be laid.
