Southland luckiest for scratchies

Southland is the luckiest region in the country when it comes to scratching up the biggest Instant Kiwi prize.

New Zealand lotteries has worked out which areas have the most winners, as Instant Kiwi turns 20 this month.

The next most likely places to win a $10,000 prize are New Plymouth, South Taranaki, Wanganui and Rangitikei. Then come Napier, Central Hawke's Bay and Gisborne.

But the two luckiest shops nationwide are both in Christchurch - the Hornby Mall Lotto and Countdown Eastgate Lotto shops.

To celebrate the birthday, New Zealand lotteries has issued two new special tickets, and is bringing back the popular bungy jumping fisherman ad.
