Southland crash victim named

A 20-year-old Invercargill woman killed when her car crashed into a power pole northwest of the city early yesterday has been named.

Stella Tapourawai Tuhakaraina died in the crash on State Highway 99 near Thornbury about 5.45am, Senior Sergeant Dave Raynes said.

Ms Tuhakaraina was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

"At this stage it is not known whether any other vehicle was involved, or whether alcohol or speed were factors," Mr Raynes said.
