Indoor bowls
The touring South Island indoor bowls team notched up their fourth win of their North Island tour when they beat a combined Bush-Ruahine and Wairarapa squad 26-22 in a match played at Pahiatua.
The first round saw the home team get off to a good start, winning the women's singles, pairs and triples as well as the men's triples and fours, and drawing the men's singles and pairs. South Island took out the women's fours and so the combined side led by a commanding 12-4.
The second round saw South Island mount a spirited fightback. They won the men's fours, women's singles, triples and fours and drew the men's and women's pairs while Bush-Ruahine and Wairarapa picked up the men's singles and triples, leaving them up 18-14.
In the final round South Island won all four men's events as well as the women's triples and fours while the home team won the women's singles and pairs. South Island took the overall spoils by four points.
