A bunch of hardy Southerners braved the cold today to oppose mining on Conservation land. Around 400 people marched through Invercargill this afternoon, saying they are not fooled by the government's supposed backdown.
Organiser Dave Kennedy says the march started simply, with recordings of bird calls to highlight what would be lost.
Mr Kennedy said their intention was to encourage the government to look carefully at the tens of thousands of submissions it has received.
He said four weeks was not enough time to consider 25,000 submissions.
