Southern Cross Healthcare is telling customers their money will be in the bank within the next two weeks. It says outstanding insurance claims have more than halved in the past month.
Audit committee chairman and board spokesman Bryan Kensington said that since mid-January, the number of claims in process had been reduced from 54,000 to about 12,000.
The processing turnaround time had fallen to less than three weeks, he said.
But 1200 claims will take longer to clear because more information is needed about them.
