A South Island news presenter has admitted strangling a 69-year-old woman in an assault described by a judge as "horrible".
Craig David Storey, 51, appeared in the Dunedin District Court on Tuesday for sentencing on a charge of assault with intent to injuring the woman who was subjected to the strangle hold for 30 seconds.
Fairfax reported Storey, who is also an actor, was still working in his role as presenter of Allied Press' The South Today bulletin just days before his latest court appearance.
Allied Press confirmed he was suspended last night.
Sentencing was further adjourned until August.
