A name change could be on the cards for a South Auckland township before it has even been fully developed.
Flatbush, located just south of the new Botany settlement, will cover 1700 hectares and is expected to have a population of 40,000 by 2020.
Botany Community Board chair Michael Williams says a group from the community board will be talking to the Manukau City Council tonight in an effort to change the town's name to Ormiston.
He says a submission has been prepared for the New Zealand Geographic Board and support is being sought from the council.
