South Auckland police are investigating two separate attacks - involving a tomahawk and a hammer - which left people with serious facial injuries.
The first incident was on Monday at about 4.30pm, when two brothers were attacked at their King St, Puhinui, home with a tomahawk.
One of the brothers was struck about the face and taken to hospital with serious injuries. His brother received minor injuries.
Detective Constable Pete Hegley said police were waiting to speak to the badly injured brother, who had had emergency surgery.
Police are hunting for the two people believed to be responsible.
The second South Auckland attack occurred early yesterday at a house in Mangere.
A 24-year-old man received a fractured eye socket and injuries to his cheek and jaw after being attacked with a hammer in what is believed to be a domestic incident.
