A controlled fire which got out of control, threatening neighbouring houses and power lines in South Auckland, has been brought under control.
Fire services were called to the fire in Waiuku about 10.20am after a controlled fire spread in 10 to 15 knot winds.
It was initially threatening homes on Kaihau Rd but has been contained, Northern Fire Communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said.
Power lines running above the fire posed a risk to firefighters, he said.
No houses were damaged.
