South African doctors fast-track route to NZ blocked

The Medical Council plans to close the fast-track route many South African doctors use to qualify to practise in New Zealand.

The council plans to take South Africa off its list of countries deemed to have a "health environment" similar to New Zealand. South Africans will still be able to practise in this country, but will face a longer route to qualification.
