It's the chocolate promotion that has turned sour. Ashburton-based Bull Rush Chocolate and its public relations company TKO Designs copped flak last week from the families of Christchurch earthquake victims for a misfiring marketing campaign.
Families said the campaign - using Mark Wilson, who TKO claimed was an Urban Search and Rescue member who worked at the CTV site on the day of the Christchurch tragedy - was insensitive. Wilson said in the promotion that Fix chocolate bars given to the team had them "bouncing off the walls" during the rescue operation.
But it turns out Wilson was not a USAR member.
Wilson said he had made it clear to TKO Designs he was a member of the Methven Land Search and Rescue team, one of the teams called in to back the professional rescuers.
"I never said I was a USAR member, I made that quite clear from day one."
