Sonia Waddell finishes off the pace

Kiwi Sonia Waddell finished sixth in the women's single sculls final in Sydney today.

Ekaterina Karsten of Belarus today took the gold medal, narrowly defeating Rumyana Neykova of Bulgaria.

Judges took several minutes to decide the winner after a close finish.

Katrin Rutschow-Stomporowski of Germany won bronze
