A son looked on as paramedics tried to save his father's life after a motorcycle crash in New Plymouth yesterday.
Wayne Thomas Dinnington, 47, died in hospital yesterday after receiving critical head injuries when he lost control of his motorcycle at 7.40am on Upland Road near Bell Block.
Mr Dinnington's 18-year-old son, Karl, discovered the accident when he came down the road five minutes later and called paramedics, the Taranaki Daily News reported.
"I was saying 'Dad, Dad, Dad' but got no reply," Karl said.
He said he was in shock as paramedics worked on his father.
"I didn't really believe it at the time and I still don't."
Mr Dinnington was taken to ICU at Taranaki Base Hospital by ambulance but later died.
Palmerston North's Serious Crash Unit are investigating.
