Solid Energy has flatly denied claims that it has been using paid informants to get information on an environmental group.
Campaigners with Save happy Valley say they have been offered cash for information.
That is something the state-owned enterprise was warned off doing after a contractor working for it was caught out a year ago.
A spokeswoman for Solid Energy says the firm has issued a strict order to all contractors working for it not to use paid informants.
She says the company has had a firm assurance from the security firm alleged to have offered the bribe, that it was not doing so on Solid Energy's behalf.
