Police have named the soldier who died when his motorbike collided with a car just outside the Linton Military Camp near Palmerston North today.
He was Private Te Tahuna Tahapeehi, 21, of the 2nd Logistics Battalion based at the camp.
Pte Tahapeehi's death comes in the wake of a horror 24 hours for the military, with three air force personnel killed yesterday when their helicopter crashed, north of Wellington, while it was on its way to Anzac Day ceremonies in the capital.
This morning's crash happened at the intersection of Camp Road and Bells Road, about 9.45am.
The car involved in the accident was driven by a 20-year-old woman, who is also in the military, police central districts communications manager Kim Perks said.
She was not hurt, but was being monitored at the Linton Camp Hospital.
The cause of the crash was still under investigation.
