Soldier found dead in Palmerston North

A 20-year-old soldier based at Linton Army Camp has been found dead in Palmerston North after apparently falling from a central city building.

A tradesman found Ethan Roy George Hall's body in an enclosed alleyway in the city about 12.15pm yesterday, police spokeswoman Kim Perks said.

A post mortem was yet to be performed but it was believed he fell to his death from a nearby building, Ms Perks said.

Mr Hall's death was not believed to be suspicious, but police were working with military personnel to establish his last movements.

The last confirmed sighting of him was in the vicinity of Main Street West and The Square about midnight on Friday, and police wanted to speak with anyone who was with him that evening.
