KEY POINTS:
LONDON - Everton's star midfielder Tim Cahill has rejected reports that he plans to quit England and move home to Australia.
Cahill attacked reports in the Australian media claiming he wanted to end his playing career in his home state of NSW after his English Premier League club contract expires in 2012.
The 28-year-old has been linked with the proposed South Coast club, which hopes to join the A-League for the 2010/11 season.
He told the World Game website on Tuesday that "nothing would give me greater pleasure" than to "round off my football life playing for a team that I'm convinced will get a licence to join the competition sooner rather than later".
But Cahill now says his comments were taken out of context.
"Everyone knows that I am fiercely proud of my roots and that perhaps one day I may play club football back home but to say that I will be doing it at the end of my current deal is simply not true," he told Everton's website.
"I am 28 years old and, with all due respect, when my contract expires I would hope that I will still have a few more years left at this level of the game.
"The English Premier League is the best in the world and it has the best players so I have absolutely no plans to move on."
