Snow and ice in Southland

Spring has been delayed in the deep South.

Snow and ice have settled on Southland roads overnight.

Rural roads are very slippery and Invercargill roads are reportedly treacherous.

Police are asking people to stay indoors and keep off the roads. There have been a number of cars sliding off the road in Invercargill resulting in minor damage, but no injuries so far.
