A Waikato driver may have to take a week out of the dating game, after he was stung with a fine for Tindering behind the wheel.
According to a post on the Waikato Police District's Facebook page, the driver was so engrossed in the dating app on his mobile phone that he did not see the patrol car come up next to him.
"YOU - Yes you the person I pulled up next to at the intersection and you were so focused on your phone you didn't even see me in the patrol car next to you (for a good 30 seconds)," said the post.
It is illegal to use a mobile phone while driving in New Zealand, and the driver incurred an $80 fine - roughly the price of dinner and a few drinks for two.
The Waikato Police's page said: "Let's just say I hope their Tinder match was worth the $80 infringement."
