ABOUT 20 entrants from all over the North Island burnt rubber at the Masterton Motorplex burn-out competition held in Masterton on Saturday.
A "bloody good" turn-out of about 1000 people weren't bothered by the heat and watched the drivers compete in a variety of competitions, according to co-ordinator Bob Wilton.
The event was organised as a fundraiser for the organisation's $3 million drag strip project which is underway.
"But it was also something for the young people to do," he said.
Mr Wilton said competitors came from as far as Hawke's Bay, Wanganui and Wellington.
