Smoke engulfed a commercial building in Manukau after a fire broke out on the ground floor early this morning.
Four fire crews tackled the blaze at the two-storey building on Sharkey St after it caught fire at about 4.30am.
The fire started on the ground floor and the smoke spread upstairs, Fire Service northern communications shift manager Scott Osmond said.
The building suffered internal damage and smoke damage on the second floor.
One fire crew remained on standby, Mr Osmond said.
