Small jet lands safely after reported brake failure

A private jet landed safely at Auckland Airport tonight after the pilot reported his brakes were not working.

The plane landed about 6.30pm after a full emergency turnout of fire appliances at the airport.

The jet was not damaged during the landing.

The aircraft apparently had a complete failure of its hydraulic brake system.

It was escorted off the runway by fire appliances.

The Fire Service said seven fire appliances attended the emergency, including appliances from Papatoetoe and the airport's own fire appliances.
