Slow school speed zone zone chosen

The first 40km/h school speed zone in Auckland City will be introduced at St Joseph's Primary School in Onehunga.

The city council's transport committee yesterday approved the lower limit after an investigation found vehicles travelling at up to 70km/h in busy Church St during school drop-off and pick-up times.

There have been a number of crashes near St Joseph's.
