The giant catamaran Club Med has rounded the top of the South Island this morning and is heading slowly towards Cook Strait.
However, skipper Grant Dalton says winds in the area are so light the boat is almost becalmed.
At 12:00 pm today Dalton reported Club Med was 30 miles (48 kms) from where a small flotilla was waiting to greet him as Club Med sails through the Strait.
He expects it will be at least another two hours before they turn past Cape Jackson and into the Strait.
