A sun-loving kune kune piglet is getting the "slip, slop, slap" treatment at Orana Wildlife Park near Christchurch.
Animal keepers are applying sunscreen to recent arrival Poppy, a four-month-old female orange and black kune kune, as she checks out her new surroundings.
"Pigs can get sunburnt quite easily, so this is a preventative measure for Poppy," Orana's head keeper of New Zealand native and domestic animals, Tara Atkinson-Renton, said today.
"Although we provide plenty of shade for the animals, Poppy spends a lot of time playing and exploring around her new home and so is exposed to the ultra violet rays," she said.
Another of the wildlife park's kune kunes had suffered sunburn recently and Poppy was getting accustomed to her "daily make-up" session.
