Slip closes Northland road

A major slip has closed Omamari Rd on Northland's west coast.

It has been ruled too dangerous for vehicles to use. Part of the roadside has slipped away and strong winds are further eroding the sandy soil underneath.

Affected residents have been advised and engineers are assessing the slip today.

An alternative route to Omamari Beach is available on Babylon Coast Rd.
