Slip blocks Rimutaka highway

Traffic stopped when a huge slip blocked both lanes of State Highway 2 at the bottom of the Rimutaka Hill road, just north of Upper Hutt, about 4.30pm yesterday.

Sergeant Dexter Traill said last night that police and fire services were at the scene, along with earth movers, trying to clear trees, rocks and mud.
