A former employee of Auckland's SkyCity is accused of stealing more than $55,000 from carpark ticket machines at the entertainment complex.
Ajai Kumar Singh, 39, of Avondale, faces one charge of stealing $55,451.55 between February and July and a second charge of stealing two packets of bin liners worth $160.
He failed to appear before the Auckland District Court on Tuesday and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
When the Herald on Sunday visited Singh's home on Friday, the curtains were drawn and no one answered the door but a car registered in his name was in the driveway.
Sergeant Lyn Adamson of the Auckland police Combined Investigation Unit said Singh's job involved collecting cash from the carpark machines.
Adamson said Singh was arrested after fellow employees became "suspicious" of his behaviour.
He was listed as unemployed on court documents. Adamson said he no longer worked for SkyCity but declined to comment further because the case was before the courts.
SkyCity said they would not comment on any past or present employee.
