Skifield closes early due to mild weather

Mild weather has forced the Rainbow Ski Area at Nelson Lakes to close early.

Beyond Rainbow Mountain Sports chairman Martin Hay said there had been no significant snow in the past few weeks.

Combined with three days of rain, the snow base on the lower mountain had disappeared.
