A ski industry worker who died in a sleep-out fire near Wanaka in the early hours of yesterday morning has been named by police.
Bruce James Cochran, 53, was found dead in the property at Albert Town.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at 4.30am, and firefighters arrived to find the building engulfed in flames.
Once the blaze was brought under control, the body of Mr Cochran, a single man who lived at the property, was found inside.
Detective sergeant Derek Shaw of Central Otago CIB said a scene examination was "progressing well".
