KEY POINTS:
Sixteen people have been arrested in a West Auckland drink-driving blitz.
The sting operated last night and Friday night.
Almost 10,000 cars were pulled over in the operation. Seventy-eight drivers were found to be over the limit.
Police made 16 arrests, including those of several people wanted on warrants for failing to appear in court and for driving while disqualified.
They also impounded 13 vehicles.
Senior Sergeant Jacqui Whittaker says a young driver was stopped the first night, then again on the second, and was found to be over the limit on both occasions.
She says it is quite clear the "don't drink and drive message" still is not sinking in.
