Six people were taken to hospital tonight when they were hit by a bus in central Auckland, during the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony celebrations.
Police, fire and ambulance services were called to an accident involving a bus, car and several pedestrians in Fanshawe St, in the Auckland CBD.
The incident happened shortly before 7pm, when thousands of people were celebrating opening match night in downtown Auckland.
A spokeswoman for the northern ambulance communications centre said six people were taken to Auckland City Hospital in various conditions.
Three people had suffered serious conditions while the others were had suffered moderate injuries.
