Six people arrested over Whanganui man's death

Six people have been arrested in Whanganui following the death of a man after an assault last night.

The 57-year-old died following an assault at a property in Rimu St, Whanganui.

He was treated at the address by ambulance staff, but later died in Whanganui Hospital.

The assault is believed to be connected to a dispute between individuals who are known to each other.

A post-mortem is expected to be conducted tomorrow and police said details regarding the victim would not be released until next of kin are advised.

Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the assault, but would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any disturbance or disorder in the Rimu Street area yesterday.
