Two days of drunken attacks have seen six police assaulted and a man seriously wounded in Hamilton.
Four police officers were assaulted while arresting an intoxicated man in Hamilton East on Monday afternoon.
That was followed by a serious assault at a Dinsdale property at about 3.30pm on Tuesday.
Police arrested a man after they found his drunken sibling unconscious at the property with serious head injuries.
The victim is now in intensive care at Waikato Hospital.
A drunk 16-year-old was also charged after biting an officer in a patrol car when she was taken from the property.
That incident is being treated as a "serious assault", police say.
Two hours later, a female constable suffered an arm injury while trying to subdue a man accused of strangling a woman in Melville.
The officer was taken to Waikato Hospital for treatment.
City area commander Inspector Rob Lindsay said the increased violence could be due to people drinking more alcohol in the lead-up to Christmas.
He appealed to anyone with an alcohol problem to seek help.
"The past 48 hours have seen incidents over and above what can be expected or accepted.
"The answer lies with the vast range of government and non-government agencies specialising in assisting those in difficulty- not in the bottom of a bottle."
