South Wairarapa has gained six new citizens after a ceremony held in Martinborough at the South Wairarapa District Council chambers on Thursday night.
Expatriates of the United Kingdom, India and the Czech Republic were affirmed or swore an oath of allegiance and officially became New Zealanders.
South Wairarapa Mayor Adrienne Staples and SWDC chief executive Paul Crimp chaired the ceremony in front of friends and family of the new citizens, councillors and community board members.
To mark the occasion, the six new Kiwis received a gift of a cheese board that was crafted locally for the occasion and made from swamp totara sourced from the river beds in the South Wairarapa.
