Hundreds of foreigners, including six New Zealanders, have been evacuated from Georgia by the French Government.
The French embassy in Wellington said the Government, concerned by the growing number of victims and displaced people following the conflict in South Ossetia, sent an Airbus A-340 plane with humanitarian aid to Tbilisi last Monday.
The aid was delivered to a French aid organisation and the plane returned to Paris with hundreds of people of different nationalities.
