Six people were injured, two of those seriously, after a head-on crash in the Auckland suburb of Lynfield this morning.
Police say the crash happened at about 11.05am on White Swan Road, between Lynfield Shopping Centre and Hillsborough Road.
All six injured were taken to Auckland Hospital, said acting inspector Danny Meade of northern police communications earlier today, and two of those had serious injuries. The Police Serious Crash Unit was on its way.
Police closed the road and diversions were in place at Hillsborough Road and Lynfield Shopping Centre.
Police declined to comment further.
This afternoon it was believed that five of the injured people were still at Auckland Hospital - two adults and three children.
The two adults were believed to be the drivers of the two cars involved in the crash.
Both adults were under assessment but it was believed their injuries were not serious.
The three children were being assessed at Starship Hospital and were believed to be in a stable condition.
