When Detective Inspector Mark Benefield broke down during the press conference after the body of missing mother Carmen Thomas was found, it showed his humanity, a former police psychologist says.
Ian Miller said police officers dealt with a huge amount.
How each dealt with it was an individual thing, he said.
"I think one thing you have to emphasise is how Mark Benefield exemplifies the humanity of the police and the humanity would be the same of his team - like him, all very hard-working, dedicated people," said Miller.
"They have pulled some extraordinary hours to get this result. Mark is a great leader. ... All the best detective inspectors have that quality. Great leaders are always great people managers and decent human beings."
Simple case of humanity
