Sightings of Ford Falcon sought

Police want information about a silver 2005 Ford Falcon XR6 saloon, registration CRL12, near Pahiatua or Woodville between 7am and 3pm on Sunday.

Police are seeking information about a silver Ford Falcon which they believe is connected to the murder of James Whatuira.

Mr Whatuira, 49, was found dead from a gunshot wound at a property in Ormond St, Woodville on January 4.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a 2005, silver Ford Falcon XR6 saloon, registration CRL12, near Pahiatua or Woodville between 7am and 3pm on Sunday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Harrison said the vehicle was located at the Ormond St property when officers attended on January 4. "It is believed that Mr Whatuira travelled to the property in this vehicle some time on the Sunday," he said. "Piecing together this vehicle's movements is a crucial part of our investigation."

The vehicle was undergoing forensic examination.

The scene examination at the property was expected to be completed by Friday afternoon.
