"This pulled up beside me at the lights on Te Rakau Drive, Pakuranga, Auckland," writes a reader. "Filthiest car I've ever seen."
Famous last words
Raymond Alan "Big Al" Brownley, who died recently aged 82, did not like the Kardashians. In fact, he "despised" them so much that it was pointed out in his obituary in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. That obituary, which has gone viral, also lists a number of other things "Big Al" didn't like, including "cranberry sauce, wearing shorts, cigarette butts in his driveway, oatmeal", and "loud-mouth know-it-alls", Time reports. What did he like? His wife, his kids, his dogs, his home-made chilli, and Gas-X. He was also "highly proficient at cursing"; indeed, one such word is spelled out in the obit. Among his favourite sayings was "life is hard, but it's harder if you're stupid". Despite all this, he was "a pussycat at heart," the obituary notes. (Source: Newser)
On yer bike
David MacGregor writes: "Hordes of MAMILs [Middle-Aged Men in Lycra] swarm the streets of Stanley Point before dawn. Calling loudly at intersections 'Clear!' despite the fact the neighbourhood is quiet - still sound asleep, until the peleton of riders swoosh through, waking residents. One man has had enough and has erected signs requesting sanity - since his shouting in reply hasn't worked. It may not be the Ukraine but things are getting tense "
