"Asia doesn't have a monopoly on overloading small vehicles," says Alcon. "This photo (right) was taken in Medellin, Colombia."
Bet on the future
"Sky TV is always at the forefront of new technology," says Mike. "According to the official Sky Watch magazine, at 8am Friday, Sept 9 on the Rugby Channel they are screening a replay of the 2011 World Cup All Blacks vs Tonga game - just 12 hours BEFORE the teams take the field. A unique opportunity to make some money by betting on the action!"
Don't leave the baby
To the nicely dressed Asian woman in the BMW who parked on yellow lines with her hazard lights blinking away while she popped into St Lukes on Sunday morning ..."I stood nearby wondering whether to abduct the baby you left strapped into the car seat for the 18 minutes you were away. Only wish I hadn't chickened out giving you a verbal slapping when you returned. I know it's hard lugging round a toddler, in and out of seats and straps, but you just don't leave a baby alone anywhere."
Signs of spring?
"Yesterday I passed a road sign which said 'Slow down. It's winter!"' writes Peg Cummins. "I'm wondering if today they have changed it to 'Go faster. It's spring!"'
Tramway jackpot
Yesterday's car blocking the tramway at Wynyard Quarter was a case of an "arrogant, thoughtless and lazy or useless driver who did not deserve to have his/her number blurred", according to one reader. "Your usual crop of lazy drivers take up one or two parks, outrage us all, but actually inconvenience few. This one scored the jackpot. A big smack should also go to the designers of the carriageway who left so little freeboard between the parking stalls and the carriageway for the tram."
