Barks land on deaf ears
From the Reader's Digest funny stories, Helen says: "My niece was dragged into court by a neighbour who complained about her barking dogs. At one point, the judge asked the neighbour a question. The neighbour didn't reply. 'Sir, are you going to answer me?' The neighbour leaped to his feet. 'Are you talking to me?' he asked. 'Sorry, I can't hear a darn thing.' The case was dismissed.
Petrol stations taken in
A computer glitch led to a brief price war between two petrol stations in northwest Ohio, allowing some drivers to fill their tanks for cents per gallon. WTOL-TV reports that a computer malfunction dropped prices at one north Toledo station, and another across the street lowered its prices to stay competitive early on Sunday. Customer Taylor Kline told the station he filled his empty tank for just 26c. The extra-low pricing lasted at least three hours before returning to normal. Ohio's average price for a gallon of regular gas is US$1.55. That's down from US$2.29 a year ago. The national average yesterday for regular gas was US$1.70. AP
