A group of Christmas revellers were partying on a boat on the Yarra River in Melbourne when it was stopped by Water Police for a routine check. They found the boat was operating without the correct liquor licensing. The boat was full of off-duty police officers from a suburban station.
Missing the message
The last words of Eric Garner, the 43-year-old who died after a police chokehold in the US, have become a slogan for racial injustice and police brutality. Several prominent athletes in the NBA have warmed up wearing T-shirts with "I CAN'T BREATHE" to express their solidarity with Garner.
